Many of you might have already seen the movie called Van Helsing. This fictitious character looks a lot (A WHOLE LOT) like Mandy Lion and many of you have written and made comments about it. Some of you were angry, some thought it was funny and many of you were wondering how such a thing could be legal. We here feel quite honored that Mandy's look has been "lifted" to create this exiting super hero. We wished, of course, that credit would be given but in this business stealing all too common.

Keep sending us your comments on what you think about the movie because we here are curious how you guys feel about Mandy's clone kicking Dracula's, Frankenstein's and the Wolfman's ass!

George Miller writes: The other day I saw a movie advertisement and I froze! There was Mandy Lion on a movie poster! I got so exited I called my friends before even looking closer at the picture. Of course I found out later that this was not Mandy but Hugh Jackman in Mandy drag but I will still go and see that flick because I will have fun pretending that the pretender is Mandy. Is that strange? I am sure it is but I will go and see anything that reminds me of the Lion. I just wish they would have used Mandy for that project. I mean, Hugh is an actor that cleaned out Mandy's closet but Mandy IS that character! Long live the Lion!

Jessica write: I saw the preview for the new upcoming movie van helsing and that guy looks just like mandy. How can it be allowed to do that? This is too weird.

Daphne Malone writes: The other day my girlfriend calls me all frantic telling me that Mandy is starring in a movie! She had me all worked up until I popped online and found out that it isn't Mandy but a look-alike instead. Why did they make that wimpy guy look like Mandy? Why didn't they just go get Mandy for that role?

The show at the Keyclub went GREAT as expected! Anyone that missed this show has only themselves to blame. Legendary super drummer of Black Sabbath fame was in rare form when he rejoined Mandy Lion on stage to celebrate their common history and bring the house down as only legends can. Jimmy Bain was an inspiration for anyone in the crowd. This man has written some serious history with his former bands such as Rainbow, Dio and of course the mighty WWIII! Moni seems to be getting better with each performance and the sky seems to be the limit for the wicked priest's ability. David Ducey is a true monster on drums as he was holding his own to none other then the mighty Vinnie Appice himself. Rob Farr is a flawless bass player with tone, attack and perfect timing. No matter what the line up there is no band in metal these days that is the equal of WWIII at this point. They are better than ever and constantly improving. Last but certainly not least we have to mention the almighty Mandy Lion has lost nothing of his early aggression but has gained in showmanship, song writing ability and we dare say even sex appeal. There is no one that can capture a female audience like this man. He seems to have some kind of inhuman ability to attract and control women effortlessly. I am not saying this in a derogatory way, being a female myself but rather in a matter of fact like fashion. The man is super human no doubt. To sum it up right here: the band kills, the songs rule and Mandy Lion is simply put the most intense individual music has ever known. I am hooked.

When a journalist recently requested an interview with WWIII’s Mandy Lion, he wanted to do it early in the morning. Mandy kept pushing the time later and later into the day. The journalist asked for 9:00 AM, Mandy said 5:00 PM. Trying to compromise, the journalist suggested 11:00 AM, Mandy aimed at 2:00 PM. Finally, Mandy and the journalist were able to compromise on Noon. Mandy explains the need for him to wait until Noon to do interviews.

Mandy Lion's WWIII kicked major ass on their debut live show in LA the other night. Reactions have been nothing short of amazing! Everyone had pretty much the same reaction to the bands performance which is summed up best by what a well known industry person had to say after the show: THAT WAS THE GREATEST FUCKING SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!

WWIII, fronted by Mandy Lion, will perform a special Halloween show at Club Vodka on Thursday, October 30th, at 10:30 PM.

On November 18th, the band will release it’s first album in 12 years, When God Turned Away, on Reality Entertainment. “In the ‘90’s,” Mandy explains, “I worked with a lot of great guys like George Lynch and Jake E. Lee. I didn’t want to do WWIII for awhile, because I felt that the whole grunge/alternative thing was all people cared about. Then came the teen prince and princess thing, and God knows there’s no place for me there. Now, it finally has come full circle, and so I felt the time was right to put the band back together.”

When God Turned Away is pure heavy metal with Mandy’s growling vocals over the riff filled melodies. Onstage, he is one of the original metal icons and his influence is obvious in artists like Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. This October 30th show is to kickoff a west coast string of dates, followed by a national tour in early 2004.

Reality Entertainment has finally released the long-awaited first new album from WWIII in 13 years. The prophetically named CD, When God Turned Away, had been scheduled for a European release on 9/11/2001. Slated to be distributed by Nuclear Blast, the album, along with any other potentially violent names or titles on Nuclear Blast and other metal labels, were turned down by outlets all over the globe, so the label decided to hold it for a more politically correct time.

According to label President/CEO, Warren Croyle, "WWIII and frontman Mandy Lion are legendary, especially in Europe. Changing the name of the group would have not only been an insult to them and their fans, but a foolish business decision as well. Now, though, it's been almost two years and we felt it was long enough that this shouldn't be a problem." The CD is now available through centurymedia.com and features the uniquely talented Mandy Lion on vocals, co-producer Joe Floyd on guitar, Geezer Montez on bass and Sledge on drums.

Blending old school metal with a modern day vibe that should appeal to older and new (nu) metal fans alike, When God Turned Away delivers all the power of a genre of music that never fades away like so many passing trends. A success in his native Germany by the time he was 11, Mandy Lion has become an icon to the lovers of pure metal in both Europe and in the States, where he has lived for the past 15 years. Lately, he has taken something of a hiatus, but this new album proves that Mandy is back with the same special talents.
The band is planning to play some festivals overseas this summer as well as a string of west coast dates to kick off a U.S. tour that will last as long as there are shows to play. According to Mandy, "I am dying to get out there again. As long as there's electricity and fans who want to see us, we'll play anywhere."
